The answer before the background

Our recommendation

A dependable Element TD 2 guide starts with path coverage, not a memorized endgame build. Place early towers where they can fire across more than one pass, choose an element only when it improves the next several waves, and keep enough gold to survive before protecting an interest target. Element picks open new tower combinations but also introduce elemental bosses. The normal sequence reaches wave 55 and then moves into an endless Doom Lord phase, so a successful early defense must eventually become a balanced late-game system.

Use a repeatable decision loop instead of reacting after a leak

DecisionQuestion to answerLow-regret action
PlacementCan this location cover the route more than once?Prefer bends, overlaps and long shared lanes over the first open tile.
Element pickWhat damage type and future combinations does it unlock?Check the incoming-wave panel and Tower Table before confirming.
GoldWill the current defense survive until the next income tick?Buy survival first; keep a reserve only after the lane is stable.
UpgradeIs the weakness damage, coverage, control or boss focus?Upgrade the job that is failing rather than the most expensive tower.

Plan the boss that comes with each new branch

The developer-linked guide explains that a run offers a pick every five waves through wave 50. The first element opens its basic tower; later element picks summon an elemental boss before the new branch is fully useful. That makes a pick both an unlock and a short-term combat test. A build that looks excellent on a finished tower chart can still fail if it cannot kill the boss that creates the route.

Singles, duals and triples are not simple vertical upgrades. A multi-element tower has requirements, a damage identity and a battlefield job. Open the Tower Table with the in-game control, hover the intended result, and confirm which owned elements and predecessor towers can reach it. This is more reliable than remembering a screenshot from an older balance patch.

Diagnose the first failed wave before rebuilding everything

  • Replay the leak and name its cause: elemental resistance, insufficient single-target damage, weak area coverage, no control, or premature economy spending.
  • Move or add a tower only when the new location increases useful firing time. More towers in poor positions can make the economy worse without fixing the leak.
  • Use Cannon and Arrow access as temporary coverage while the elemental route is incomplete, then transition rather than overinvesting in filler.
  • Pause after each element pick and confirm the next reachable dual or triple. Do not spend points only because a late tower appears in a tier list.
  • After wave 50, treat Essence and endgame access as a new phase. The defense that cleared normal waves still needs scaling and control for Doom Lords.

Common questions

How do you play Element TD 2?

Build on high-coverage positions, earn gold from kills and interest, choose elements on the scheduled pick waves, defeat the resulting bosses, and combine the unlocked elements into role-balanced towers.

How many normal waves are there?

The official Steam page lists 55 waves, followed by an endless boss phase.

Should a beginner copy one build?

Use a build as a learning example, not a script. Map shape, mode, campaign unlocks, wave elements and the current patch can all change the correct order.

Is there a German guide?

The game supports a German interface. This English page keeps button names descriptive; verify the localized label in the current client when following a step.
