Tower Defense
Infinitode 2 guide
A systems-heavy tower-defense game where research choices, farming maps, tower value, and secret codes create durable search demand.
Current answer
What players need to know now.
Infinitode 2 is a free, systems-heavy tower-defense game built around endless waves, permanent research, miners, tower experience, and custom maps. The current official release line is 1.9.2, with Windows and Linux on Steam, Android on Google Play, and iPhone or iPad on the App Store. New players should progress through story levels, concentrate research on a small role-balanced tower set, and add mining only after the defense can survive the next wave.

Core systems
Build a progression engine, not one perfect tower.
| System | What it does | Beginner priority | Common mistake |
|---|---|---|---|
| Story levels | Unlock towers, enemies, modes, and permanent progression. | Advance until a level exposes a real weakness, then farm or research. | Grinding one early map long after the next unlock is reachable. |
| Towers | Gain XP, upgrades, abilities, and distinct enemy matchups during a run. | Use a small group covering single targets, crowds, and control. | Researching every tower equally before learning their jobs. |
| Miners | Extract resources used in research and add score during runs. | Build after the lane is stable enough to protect the investment. | Buying economy while enemies are already leaking. |
| Research | Provides permanent global, tower, miner, and economy upgrades. | Solve the current bottleneck instead of following the largest branch. | Spending rare resources on late systems too early. |
| Map editor | Turns collected tiles and resources into custom farming or challenge maps. | Treat it as a later progression tool, not the first objective. | Selling or converting unfamiliar items without checking future use. |
Low-regret start
Five decisions that protect early resources.
- 1
Use story mode as the tutorial and unlock route; do not stop to perfect every early level before seeing the next tower and enemy type.
- 2
Build three jobs, not three copies of the same idea: dependable damage, crowd or heavy-target coverage, and slow or stun support.
- 3
Research the towers you actually place. Version 1.9 added many free tower-specific research nodes that unlock through tower use.
- 4
Add a miner only when your current defense survives comfortably; a resource engine is valuable only if the base remains intact.
- 5
Create an account and use cloud saves before changing platforms, joining a beta, or replacing a device.
Tower balance changed substantially in version 1.9.0, including more than one hundred research additions and broad tower reworks. We use role-based recommendations here and do not present an old universal tier list as current fact.
