The answer before the background

Our recommendation

Basic is our best broad investment in Infinitode 2 because it is cheap enough for Normal progression and gains exceptional Endless scaling after its tower-specific and ricochet research. For an early Normal-mode account, Basic, Sniper, and Multishot form the safest S-tier group: Basic covers general waves, Sniper deletes sparse or durable targets, and Multishot handles crowds and air. Crusher, Minigun, Splash, Venom, and Flamethrower are strong A-tier choices when the map, enemy mix, or research plan supports them. There is no honest one-list answer for every mode.

Best towers for Normal story progression in version 1.9.2

This is Quest Meridian's decision-oriented tier list, not an official Prineside ranking. It assumes a developing account in Normal story levels and rewards towers that solve common maps before expensive Endless research is complete.

A lower tier does not mean unusable. It means the tower needs a narrower map, matchup, ability, modifier, or research condition before we would spend scarce early resources on it.

TierTowersWhy they sit hereMain limitation
S — broad early valueBasic, Sniper, MultishotLow-regret coverage across general waves, durable targets, crowds, and air when used together.None replaces the other two jobs; Sniper cannot hit air.
A — strong with a planCrusher, Minigun, Splash, Venom, FlamethrowerHigh damage or useful support when path shape, density, targeting, or research fits the tower. Each has a meaningful condition: cost, range, reload, spread time, or enemy coverage.
B — matchup or supportFreezing, Blast, Antiair, Tesla, MissileImportant control or specialist answers, but usually not the first damage branch to maximize.Value depends heavily on the wave, support zone, and research level.
Specialist — build around itCannon, Laser, GaussCan solve a specific early unlock, geometry, or high-investment farming setup.Other towers normally produce a simpler return for general story progress.
Why this differs from old lists

Version 1.9 reduced parts of the global research tree, strengthened tower-specific research, reworked abilities and range, and added 96 free tower nodes unlocked through tower use. A version 1.8 tier list is not a current baseline.

Choose the tower for the job you are actually doing

What every Infinitode 2 tower is best at

TowerBest useResearch warning
BasicCheap general damage in Normal; premier long-term Endless coreIts dominant Endless reputation assumes later tower-specific and ricochet investment.
SniperBosses, sparse durable enemies, and long lanesIt cannot hit air and loses value when weak targets absorb slow shots.
CannonEarly clustered ground enemies before broader crowd options matureIts role becomes harder to justify after Splash and Multishot are developed.
FreezingSlow, shared damage-zone control, and late density supportEarly damage return is low; support improves when the rest of the build can exploit it.
AntiairDedicated air wavesSpecialization can become wasted investment on maps where flexible towers already cover air.
SplashDense waves, favorable geometry, and advanced Magnet setupsResults are map-dependent and improve sharply with focused research.
BlastStun and late-research controlLow-tech control is modest, so do not fund it as if it were a primary damage tower.
MultishotNormal-mode crowd clearing and flexible air coverageExcellent early and mid progression, but it is not the default late Endless carry.
MinigunSustained single-target damage, air coverage, and vulnerability supportReload timing and target switching can expose the lane.
VenomDamage over time across several durable targetsTargeting and poison spread matter more than stacking shots on an already poisoned weak enemy.
TeslaChained damage in suitable mixed wavesJudge it against the exact enemy resistances and the number of useful chain targets.
MissileLong-range or dedicated anti-air coverageCommunity testing rates its general output below simpler alternatives in current Endless play.
FlamethrowerDense ground crowds and support effectsIt cannot hit air and often becomes a support piece rather than the Endless carry.
LaserStraight-lane specialist damageRotation and charge behavior punish awkward geometry and target changes.
GaussHigh tile efficiency and resource-oriented custom mapsIt consumes miner-linked investment and is not a beginner generalist.
CrusherHigh damage, capture utility, and some prestige-map strategiesAdditional Crushers become more expensive, so plan the count before committing.

Five tower pairs with a clear reason to exist

PairUse it forHow it worksDo not use it when
Basic + SniperMixed story wavesBasic clears ordinary traffic while Sniper focuses durable targets.Air is the main threat and no third tower covers it.
Multishot or Splash + FreezingDense groupsSlow keeps more enemies inside multi-target damage. The run lacks enough base damage to benefit from extra control.
Minigun + main carryBosses and low-density pressureMinigun contributes sustained damage and can support vulnerability-oriented play.Reload windows line up with the dangerous part of the wave.
Splash + Magnet abilityAdvanced Endless densityCommunity 1.9.2 strategies use the ability interaction to concentrate high-value Splash damage. The required research and ability access are not ready.
Gauss + MinerSpecialized farming mapsThe defense and resource engine share the same planned investment.A miner cannot repay its cost before the base fails.

Research one small roster instead of funding all 16 towers

  • Pick one general carry for the mode: Basic is the safest long-term choice; Multishot is a smoother Normal-mode crowd choice.
  • Add one answer to the carry's bad matchup, such as Sniper for durable targets or Antiair for a dedicated flying threat.
  • Add Freezing or Blast only when several damage towers can exploit the control zone.
  • Use the per-tower statistics added in version 1.9—damage, kills, and bonus coins—to test whether a supposed carry is earning its cost.
  • Change one tower or research branch at a time. A full rebuild hides the reason the next attempt improved or failed.

Common questions

What is the best tower in Infinitode 2?

Basic is our best broad investment for the current 1.9.2 line, especially once Endless tower-specific and ricochet research is developed. It is not the best answer to every enemy or map by itself.

What are the best early-game towers in Infinitode 2?

Basic, Sniper, and Multishot are the lowest-regret early group: general damage, durable-target damage, crowd clearing, and flexible air coverage across three understandable roles.

Is Multishot still good in Infinitode 2?

Yes for Normal progression and medium-to-dense waves, especially because it can also hit air. Current community analysis does not treat it as the default final Endless carry.

Is Crusher worth researching?

Crusher is strong when you want concentrated damage, its capture utility, or a planned prestige-map setup. Additional Crusher build and upgrade costs rise, so it is a strategy rather than a tower to spam blindly.

Why do Infinitode 2 tier lists disagree?

They often rank different versions, modes, research levels, enemies, and map geometry. Version 1.9 also shifted power from some global research toward tower-specific research, making account state more important.
