Fast answer
The answer before the background
A reliable build starts with the selected Platyguard's own attack mechanic, then adds four jobs: a repeatable damage engine, crowd control, boss pressure and one survival or mobility answer. ChillyRoom advertises 14 playable characters and hundreds of skills, items and synergies, but it does not publish one permanent best combination. Record the character, plane, patch and failed encounter, change one component, and keep the variation only when it fixes that measured weakness.
Build frame
Assign a job before judging rarity
| Job | Question it answers | Useful evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Core engine | What action produces dependable damage? | Trigger frequency, safe uptime and the character mechanic it uses. |
| Crowd answer | How does the run preserve space against a swarm? | Area, chaining, summons, control or a lightning-style interaction shown by the current client. |
| Boss answer | What keeps working against one durable target? | Damage during real attack windows rather than the largest training-room number. |
| Survival layer | What prevents one missed read from ending the run? | Dodge access, parry reliability, movement, recovery or another verified defensive effect. |
Character fit
Let the Platyguard choose the first constraint
The official store describes sword duels, brutal combos, charged attacks and dodge-and-shoot styles. Those mechanics do not value the same reward. A charged attacker needs a safe release window; a combo character cares about maintaining a sequence; a ranged mover needs space and effects that reward repeated safe hits. Start from the action the character can perform consistently instead of forcing a popular effect onto every roster member.
The launch announcement states that the full game has 14 playable characters. That is broader than the February demo, which made Reyn playable while only previewing other characters. A demo recommendation is therefore a historical starting point, not a full-roster tier list. Mark a character untested when the current build, unlock or skill text has not been checked.
Run worksheet
Use one failed check to select the next reward
- Write down the character, plane, difficulty or modifier, patch, major items and the encounter that ended the attempt.
- Classify the failure as ordinary-swarm space, elite defense, boss uptime, movement, recovery or an execution mistake.
- Change one reward family and repeat a comparable run; do not replace the character, every item and the route at once.
- Track clear time, damage windows, hits taken and whether the build still functions when its ideal trigger is absent.
- Retire a combination when it depends on an old name, tooltip or interaction that cannot be reproduced in the current client.
Evidence boundary
Examples are ingredients, not a promised recipe
ChillyRoom explicitly gives summons, magic and lightning storms as examples of the build space. They prove that broad archetypes exist, not that one unnamed summon or lightning item is currently S tier. This guide therefore teaches the interaction test and does not invent item names, drop odds, evolution recipes or numerical caps.
A publishable named build should later include screenshots or transcribed tooltips, the exact version, acquisition conditions and at least three comparable runs. Until that evidence exists, a role-complete plan is more accurate than a confident list assembled from search snippets.
FAQ
Common questions
What is the best PlatyGuard Swarm Slayer build?
There is no official universal ranking. Start with the character's repeatable mechanic, add crowd and boss answers, then use one defensive or mobility layer and test the failing encounter again.
How many playable characters are in the full game?
ChillyRoom's launch announcement states 14 playable characters. The earlier demo made only Reyn playable, so demo coverage is not the full roster.
Should I always take a rare item?
No. Prefer the reward that strengthens the current engine or repairs a measured weakness; rarity alone does not prove interaction or uptime.
Are summons, magic and lightning official build types?
The Steam product description uses them as examples of possible synergies. Exact named components and balance still need current-client verification.
