The answer before the background

Our recommendation

Halls of torment multiplayer is not an official mode in the current Steam, Xbox, PlayStation or Premium mobile descriptions. The platform pages identify the game as single-player. Internet access may still be used for downloads, cloud saves, achievements, purchases, events or leaderboards in a particular edition, but those services do not create co-op. A community multiplayer or co-op mod should be treated as unsupported software with version and save risks.

Single-player, online services and cloud play are separate labels

Install and entitlement checks differ from moment-to-moment play

Google Play labels the Premium product as offline in some regional metadata, and the core game is designed around solo runs. However, first installation, purchase validation, updates, cloud synchronization, achievements and DLC can require a platform connection. Test offline mode through the official client's normal process before relying on it for travel.

The free mobile adaptation contains purchases, advertising disclosures and leaderboard language, so its connectivity expectations should be checked separately. Do not assume that an offline Premium review proves the free product works without a connection, or that an Xbox cloud stream can start with no network.

Do not sacrifice a stable save for an unsupported co-op promise

A multiplayer-mod search can lead to executables, DLL replacements or modified APKs. Before running any community modification, back up permitted local saves, verify the author and source, read compatibility notes and test a clean profile. Never disable platform security or submit credentials to enable a lobby.

After a game update, reproduce crashes in the unmodified client before reporting them as base-game defects. If cooperative play is the purchase requirement, choose a title whose official store explicitly lists it instead of relying on a speculative mod. That preserves refunds, support and predictable updates.

Common questions

Does Halls of Torment have co-op?

No official local or online co-op mode is listed on the current first-party product pages.

Why does Xbox say cloud gaming?

Cloud gaming streams the single-player product; it does not mean multiple people can join one run.

Can Halls of Torment be played offline?

Solo gameplay may work offline in supported editions, but installation, purchases, updates and cloud features can require a connection.

Is a multiplayer mod safe?

It is unsupported and version-sensitive. Do not trust unknown binaries or modified mobile packages, and protect saves before any legitimate community modification.

Official listings establish current availability and product facts. Community pages are used for mechanics and build history, then labeled separately.
