The answer before the background
The current halls of torment update history has four major anchors: Steam Early Access on May 24, 2023; PC version 1.0 on September 24, 2024; the free Bardcore update and paid The Boglands DLC on October 28, 2025; and the Xbox/PS5 launch that same day. Chasing Carrots continued fixes in 2026 and announced a future free update plus paid The Archives DLC, targeted for the second half of 2026 but not yet a released product on the review date.

Bardcore and Boglands
Free update and paid expansion arrived together but are not one entitlement
Bardcore added the Bard, six Bard abilities, endgame artifacts, music features, quests and manual level-up behavior as a free update. The Boglands is paid DLC with a new stage, Crone and Alchemist, Decay and Earth mechanics, new abilities, items, artifacts and a separate quest board. A guide must label which side owns the requirement.
Console store bundles can include The Boglands, while a base license may not. Premium mobile currently exposes the expansion as an in-app purchase on Apple's listing. Check the live included-content section instead of assuming that a later update silently grants paid content on every platform.
Patch workflow
A date and platform belong beside every exact value
Official late-2025 and 2026 notes fixed Bard mappings, Boglands abilities, damage calculation, crashes, gamepad behavior and performance-sensitive effects. Console patches can be bundled on a different schedule from Steam. When a build changes after an update, preserve the old result and name the new platform version instead of rewriting history without a date.
The Archives is announced work, not a current stage or purchase. The developer preview discusses a map, character and future free systems, but roadmap targets can move. Publish the latest official statement, mark it as planned and never generate a release date by extrapolating from an old patch cadence.
