The answer before the background

Our recommendation

Creeper World 4 multiplayer is available through the experimental MVerse co-op system. Steam currently lists Online Co-op and LAN Co-op. The maintained reference says one host can invite up to three other players, for four total, using a match code or Steam invitation. Start a compatible map, open the pause menu, choose MVerse Hosting, select Internet or LAN, copy the lobby code and start after everyone joins. Players control their own units while several infrastructure objects are shared.

Create the lobby from a running compatible map

The host first launches a generated Mark V map, Chronom map, finalized editor map or Colonies scenario. The pause menu then exposes MVerse Hosting. Internet allows remote players; LAN keeps the lobby on the same local network. Share only the generated match code and remove accidental leading or trailing spaces when a join fails.

The `mverse` map tag is the safest discovery starting point because a normal single-player script may assume one owner. Read comments for save/load issues or custom-unit conflicts. The feature was introduced as experimental, so a successful lobby does not prove every objective and CPACK is synchronized.

Diagnose map state before blaming the network

A joiner selects MVERSE from the title screen, pastes the code and enters the lobby. If the connection fails, confirm both players use the same current build, the code has no spaces, the host selected the intended Internet/LAN mode and firewalls permit the session. Do not download a third-party multiplayer executable.

For a resumed game, verify that every player's structures and objective state survived. Community reports can identify a current issue, but they are not proof that a particular save is recoverable. Preserve the host save, record map ID and version, and reproduce on a simple MVerse-tagged map before submitting a bug report.

Is Creeper World 4 multiplayer?

Yes. The current Steam page lists Online and LAN Co-op, implemented through MVerse.

How many players can use MVerse?

The maintained MVerse reference describes up to four players total.

How do friends join?

They paste the host's match code in MVERSE or accept a supported Steam invitation.

Does every custom map support co-op?

No. Prefer the mverse tag and check the author notes because scripts and custom units may assume single-player ownership.
