The answer before the background

Our recommendation

Rogue tower builds begin before a run: XP unlocks permanent bonuses and additional cards, and those unlocks change what can appear after waves. Start with a compact tower package, one mana plan if needed, and explicit answers for health, armor and shield. During the run, prefer cards that improve many placed towers or unlock a required chain. Add a new family only when it solves a named gap.

Every unlock has an opportunity cost in future draws

Unlocking a new tower is not automatically wrong. The cost is that future choices may include its tower card and follow-up cards. If the current strategy cannot afford, place or support that family, those draws compete with range, crit, layer damage or economy cards already needed by the network.

Go deep enough to reach the defining cards of the active package before going wide. Count beneficiaries: a card affecting twelve Ballistas can be more valuable than a specialized bonus for one late tower. If a new tower answers a specific layer or geometry problem, unlock it deliberately and record which old option it replaces.

Write a plan that can survive a different seed

A useful build sheet contains lane mode, primary towers, support building, mana ceiling, shield answer, armor answer, health finisher, crowd control, and target rules. It also names the failure condition that triggers a pivot. This structure survives different card order better than a list demanding five exact draws by wave ten.

Do not confuse 'unlock all' with maximum consistency. Full completion is a valid goal, but it produces a broader pool than a focused progression file. Separate an achievement profile from a controlled-learning profile, and never use a downloaded save or editor to skip the decision. The point is understanding how the deck changes.

Common questions

Should I unlock every tower immediately?

Only if completion matters more than draw-pool focus. A compact pool makes a specific learning build easier to reproduce.

What makes a good build?

It assigns health, armor, shield, coverage, mana and economy jobs without relying on one exact card order.

Are permanent upgrades always active?

Some are persistent bonuses; others unlock cards that still must be drawn. Read the exact description.

Can I respec safely?

Use supported menus only after backing up and understanding what the reset removes; this page provides no registry-edit method.
