Fast answer
The answer before the background
A useful rogue tower tier list ranks complete jobs under stated conditions. Flexible, low-cost towers with broad coverage score well early; specialists rise when their preferred layer, path shape and card chain appear. Target priority is part of the ranking because a shield specialist firing into the wrong group is not performing its assigned job. State lane count, mode, unlocked pool and patch before copying a tier.
Criteria
Score the package, not the tower icon
| Criterion | High score means | Common false positive |
|---|---|---|
| Coverage efficiency | Long shared firing time per Gold | Large range that covers little useful path. |
| Layer fit | Strong answer to the current shield, armor or health gap | High total damage into an already solved layer. |
| Card depth | Several draws improve placed towers | One spectacular card with no prerequisite path. |
| Resource fit | Mana and Gold remain sustainable | A strong tower that disables the rest of the network. |
| Priority control | Attacks reach the intended target class | Damage wasted on a convenient but irrelevant enemy. |
Targeting
Priority rules convert stats into the correct damage
Target choices such as progress along the path, health state or defensive layer can change which enemy receives an attack. Place a layer specialist where it has time to work, then set its rule so it does not abandon the job for a nearby low-value target. Copy and paste priorities, added in an official 2022 patch, can reduce configuration drift across a group.
Lookout illustrates the issue: marking is valuable only when the rest of the network can attack the marked enemy. A distant mark outside shared range produces less value than a well-timed mark on a threatening boss. Test priority by observing a representative wave, not by assuming the label will handle every mixed pack.
Tier use
Separate first-win consistency from Endless ceiling
For a first standard victory, rank affordable towers, dependable card access and clean layer coverage. For Endless, scaling, global research, route saturation and long-term economy matter more. A tower can be top-tier for a narrow high-roll record and still be a poor beginner recommendation.
Publish a tier as a dated table with mode, pool and criteria. When a patch changes a base value or status interaction, revise the affected job rather than shuffling every name for novelty. The best upgrade is often the one applied to the largest working network, not the rarest card offered.
FAQ
Common questions
What are the best towers?
The best group covers the current damage layers, route geometry and resource budget; there is no context-free winner.
What target priority should I use?
Assign each specialist to the enemy layer or threat it was built to remove, then observe a mixed wave and adjust.
Why do tier lists disagree?
They often use different lane modes, unlock pools, card luck, patches and goals.
Do the same tiers apply to Endless?
No. Endless rewards long-term scaling and economy differently from a standard wave-45 victory.
