Fast answer
The answer before the background
Loop hero cards are tools for constructing both rewards and threats. Road cards occupy the loop, roadside cards influence nearby battles, landscape cards build the outer grid, special cards change rules, and one selected golden card can reshape the expedition. A strong deck is not the largest unlocked collection: it contains enough enemy sources for loot, enough recovery or scaling to pay for them, and Oblivion or another repair option for a dangerous transformation.
Card roles
Give every card a job before adding it to the deck
| Family | Placement | Question before use |
|---|---|---|
| Road | Directly on the loop | Does this encounter, recovery or quest improve every future circuit? |
| Roadside | Beside a road tile | Which battles enter its range, and what extra enemy can it add? |
| Landscape | Away from the road | Does the pattern create a benefit, spawn or transformation? |
| Special | Rule-specific | Can the current map exploit the effect safely? |
| Golden | One per expedition | Does its global trade-off fit this class and goal? |

Learn transformations by cause and cost
A 3-by-3 group of Rocks and Mountains creates a Mountain Peak and also changes the enemy ecosystem. A Meadow next to another non-Meadow tile becomes a stronger Blooming Meadow. A Village beside a Vampire Mansion becomes dangerous before later changing again. Overlapping Battlefield influence can create Blood Paths. These examples show the rule: the new tile's benefit and spawn cost must be evaluated together.
Rivers multiply adjacent landscape value but consume scarce placement space and can create other terrain interactions. Storm Temple lines, Forest or Thicket placement, Chrono Crystals, Bookeries and Swamps are similarly positional. A copied end-state screenshot is incomplete unless it shows the order, chapter, deck and enemy pressure that made the layout survivable.
Deck editing
Draw quality is a strategic resource
- Remove a card that does not advance the current build or farming goal.
- Avoid stacking several enemy sources before proving the health budget.
- Keep an answer for a misplaced or transformed tile.
- Leave campfire space before the boss meter completes.
- Record why a golden card helps the chosen class.
- Use the Encyclopedia as a discovery record, not proof that every tile belongs in one deck.
FAQ
Common questions
What are the main card types?
Road, roadside, landscape, special activation cards and golden cards use different placement rules.
What makes a Mountain Peak?
A 3-by-3 block of Rock and Mountain tiles transforms into one Mountain Peak; the change also brings an enemy-spawn consequence.
Is every tile combo good?
No. A transformation can improve healing or resources while adding enemies the current build cannot safely clear.
What is the best deck?
The smallest deck that reliably supports the class, chapter and current goal is usually more reproducible than a universal list.
