Fast answer
The answer before the background
A practical loop hero guide begins with restraint: place enough enemy and landscape cards to improve loot and permanent materials, but stop adding danger when fights consume more health than the next campfire pass restores. Compare equipment as a complete package, leave useful space around the campfire before the boss meter fills, and retreat with the resources for a named building when the next circuit no longer has a reliable exit.
First loop
Create a route the current gear can actually clear
The hero moves and attacks without direct commands, so the player's strongest control is preparation. A card is not free power: a Grove, Cemetery or other spawn can improve card and item flow while also adding another fight to every future circuit. Place one source, watch the health cost, then decide whether the equipment curve supports another.
Landscape cards can add maximum health, healing, attack speed or other advantages, yet patterns also create enemies and transformations. Preserve open map space until the deck plan is clear. An early board that looks full can be less useful than a sparse board with repeatable recovery and controlled fights.
Equipment
Replace an item only when the whole build improves
| Question | Useful check | Bad shortcut |
|---|---|---|
| Can I survive the loop? | Healing, defense, evasion, shield or class-specific protection | Equip the largest item level automatically |
| Can I end fights? | Damage, attack speed and a stat the class can exploit | Collect unrelated bonus lines |
| Can I face the boss? | One coherent answer to its mechanic | Assume ordinary-enemy farming proves boss readiness |
Retreat
A banked upgrade is a successful expedition
Leaving from the campfire preserves the best share of the haul; retreating elsewhere or dying has a harsher cost. The exact retention shown by the interface is the authority. Before starting, identify the building or upgrade being funded. Once the required materials are secure and the next loop is unstable, return instead of converting a successful resource run into a loss.
After a death, diagnose the first failure: too many spawns, weak healing, mismatched gear, poor boss preparation or greed after reaching the resource goal. Change that layer alone. Copying a new class tier list cannot repair a board that became dangerous two loops too early.
FAQ
Common questions
What happens when you die?
The expedition ends and only part of the gathered resources is retained. Read the current retreat interface before risking another loop.
Is there an easy mode?
There is no need to invent a hidden code. Reduce the deck, place fewer dangerous tiles, improve camp services and retreat earlier.
Should I fill the whole map?
Only when the run goal and build can survive what the completed board creates. Full coverage is not a beginner requirement.
How do I level up?
Build the Gymnasium to expose expedition experience and trait choices, then defeat enemies to fill the experience bar.
