Fast answer
The answer before the background
A useful loop hero tier list cannot rank every class, card, trait, item and camp supply on one universal ladder. Warrior is the simplest baseline, Rogue can become a fast trophy-driven farmer, and Necromancer can protect the hero through summons, but their value changes with unlocked buildings, deck, chapter and goal. Rank a complete package for first clear, boss kill, material farm, long loop or achievement instead of ranking names in isolation.
Rubric
Score choices against the same five questions
| Criterion | Question | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Availability | Can this account and chapter use it? | A late unlock cannot be a beginner default. |
| Reliability | How often does it solve the intended job? | Random perfect rolls are not a stable plan. |
| Cost | What deck slot, map space or material does it consume? | Power can create hidden opportunity cost. |
| Synergy | Does it strengthen the class engine? | An excellent card may be wrong for this build. |
| Risk | What enemy, spawn or pool dilution does it add? | More rewards can make the route lethal. |
Examples
Conditional winners are more honest than S-tier labels
A Village can be top-tier for healing and quests in one route, yet its placement and nearby interactions can create a dangerous period. Forest and Thicket scaling may be valuable for attack speed, but the class and River layout determine the return. Arsenal can transform equipment planning while also reducing drop stats. These are trade-offs, not permanent grades.
Boss traits deserve their own pool analysis because unlocking more options can dilute future offers. Equipment rankings must specify the exact stat lines, not just rarity. Supply rankings require the camp capacity and stack limit. A screenshot of an endgame camp therefore cannot be copied directly into an early-game tier list.
Publishing rule
Every rank needs a reproducible scope
- Name the class and chapter.
- List the relevant camp unlocks and active deck.
- State first clear, boss, farm, endless loop or achievement as the goal.
- Describe the downside and replacement option.
- Date community evidence and distinguish preference from formula.
- Re-rank after changing one of those conditions.
FAQ
Common questions
What is the best class?
There is no universal winner. Warrior is accessible, Rogue excels at a different loot flow, and Necromancer depends on a coordinated summon package.
What are the best cards?
Cards that complete the current route's reward, recovery and scaling plan without creating unmanageable spawns are the best for that run.
Are boss traits always upgrades?
A trait can be strong while also expanding the offer pool. Evaluate the trait deck and the build that needs it.
Are tier lists official?
No. Four Quarters does not publish a universal player tier list; this page provides an editorial rubric.
